MICHAEL LEE | FURNITURE | ART | DESIGN | MAKING

Hailing from a background as a seasoned art director, creative director, graphic artist/designer and sometime practising painter, influenced mainly by the works of early- to mid- twentieth-century modernism – along with its intention of uniting the visual arts – I have found moving my work from two dimensions into three has been both stimulating and rewarding.

Currently my work is about using different materials and varied processes with the aim of merging intelligent, manual making with the sensuousness and seriousness of painting (along with printmaking) while discovering value in the tensions of art, design and craft. 

Sometimes a reflection of the human condition and the temporality of art and craft; like spatial position, (extended) temporality is an intrinsic property of the objects themselves.
